Service overview
Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance in Deeside & North Wales, what you actually get.
What it is
Scheduled grounds maintenance and one-off landscaping across communal gardens, single lets, HMOs, blocks, industrial estates and commercial sites. Grass cutting, strimming, edging, hedge cutting, weed control, leaf clearance, bed maintenance and seasonal tidies, delivered on a fixed visit pattern with photo evidence on completion.
Who it's for
Letting agents and block managers who need consistency across a portfolio, residential landlords who don't have time to chase a one-man-band, and commercial property managers who need their frontage looking like someone actually cares. We work with single-property landlords and multi-site portfolios alike.
When you need it
From March through November grass typically needs cutting every 7–14 days; hedges twice a year minimum, structural hedges three times. Communal areas with high tenant turnover or visible frontage benefit from fortnightly visits all year. We'll recommend a schedule that matches the site, not a generic package.
Why it matters
Untended grounds cost you in two ways: tenants complain (which costs admin time and rent risk), and inspections flag (which costs your reputation with the freeholder or end client). A scheduled landscaping contract removes both. We turn up when we say we will, we clean up after ourselves, and the site looks looked-after when we leave, every visit.
What happens if you wait
The real cost of leaving it.
Most grass-cutting problems aren't grass-cutting problems. They're reliability problems. A contractor misses two visits in July, the grass goes to seed, hedges thicken, weeds set in, and suddenly you're looking at a half-day clearance instead of a one-hour cut. Multiply that across a portfolio and the cost is real.
Risks of leaving it
- Overgrown grounds trigger tenant complaints, formal disrepair claims and lost rent on void changeovers.
- Untrimmed hedges block sight lines on driveways and footpaths, a real liability exposure for landlords and agents.
- Self-seeded weeds in paving, gravel and beds get harder and more expensive to remove the longer they sit.
- Leaf build-up blocks gullies and drains, which causes water ingress that becomes a roofing or damp job.
- Inconsistent presentation on commercial frontage signals neglect to your customers and your landlord alike.
- Missed visits on a fixed-fee contract still get billed, and you only notice when the site looks rough.
Common mistakes we see
- Hiring the cheapest quote without checking insurance, waste carrier licence or photo reporting, there's a reason it's cheap.
- Booking ad-hoc cuts instead of a schedule, so the site only gets attention once it's already a problem.
- Letting hedges grow past the point where they can be cut back to shape without leaving bare wood.
- Using a domestic gardener for a commercial site that needs PAT-tested kit, RAMS and proper PPE.
- Assuming 'cutting the grass' covers edging, strimming, blowing down and removing arisings, it often doesn't.
- Sticking with a contractor that doesn't photograph each visit, so you've no proof when a tenant claims they didn't come.
Our process
How we deliver, step by step.
- 1
Site visit & schedule build
We walk the site, measure cutting areas, map hedges and beds, flag anything structural (overhanging branches, broken edging, dead shrubs), and propose a fixed visit pattern with a clear scope per visit.
- 2
Written quote & contract
Single one-off price or a monthly maintenance fee, itemised so you can see exactly what's included, what's extra, and what frequency we're recommending. No vague 'gardening' line items.
- 3
Mobilisation
First visit clears any backlog (overgrown grass, untouched hedges, leaf piles, dead growth) so the schedule starts from a baseline, not from a mess. We log this separately so you can see what was inherited.
- 4
Scheduled visits
Same crew where possible, on the agreed pattern. Grass cut, edges done, hedges shaped in season, beds turned over, paths blown clean, arisings removed. Each visit photographed and dated.
- 5
Reporting
Before/after photos sent through after every visit, with notes on anything we've flagged, slipped tile spotted from the garden, blocked gully, broken fence panel, dead tree limb. You see issues before tenants do.
- 6
Seasonal planning
Quarterly review of what's coming up, autumn leaf clearance, winter cut-back, spring planting, summer hedge trim, so you know the cost profile of the year before it arrives.
What you get
The benefits, in plain English.
Reliability you can chart
Fixed visit dates, photographed completion, same crew where possible. You'll stop wondering whether they came.
One contractor, every trade
Spot a slipped tile or a dripping outside tap from the garden? Same firm fixes it the same week, no second invoice, no second number to call.
Compliance built in
Public liability, employer's liability, waste carrier registration and PAT-tested kit on every visit. Documentation supplied for your records.
Less tenant chasing
Tidy grounds mean fewer 'when's the gardener coming?' emails. You get your evenings back.
Better inspection scores
Block managers and freeholders notice the difference within two visits. We've taken sites from 'flagged' to 'passed' in a month.
Lower long-run cost
A scheduled cut every 10 days in season is cheaper than a half-day clearance every two months, and the site looks twice as good.
The detail that matters
Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance: materials, methods & specifications.
Landscaping covers more than the lawn. On a typical communal block we're managing six or seven different surface types, fine turf, rough verges, gravel paths, paviour driveways, hedging, mixed beds and tree pits, each with its own kit, frequency and seasonal demands. Here's how that actually plays out on the ground.
Grass cutting & turf care
Rotary and cylinder mowers depending on the surface, with collection where arisings would otherwise smother growth or blow into beds. Cutting height adjusted seasonally, shorter in midsummer growth flush, raised before drought and into autumn. Edges defined with a half-moon or strimmer line every visit, not just at the start of the contract.
Hedge cutting & shaping
Petrol hedge trimmers for box, privet, laurel, beech and conifer to 3m; pole hedgers for taller structural hedges and tops on bigger commercial sites. Shaped to a clean A-profile so light reaches the base and growth stays dense rather than going bare-stemmed. Cuttings collected and removed, no leaving piles for the tenants.
Beds, borders & weed control
Bed maintenance is turn-over, mulch top-up, dead-heading and weeding through the season. Weeds in gravel, paviour joints and around frontage edges are managed with targeted treatment and hand removal, not blanket spraying, important on tenanted sites where children and pets use the grounds.
Seasonal planting & pruning
Spring bedding, summer perennials, autumn bulb planting and winter structural pruning for fruit, ornamental and shaped shrubs. Covered in detail on our dedicated planting & pruning service, but always available as a planned bolt-on inside a maintenance contract.
Leaf clearance & autumn programme
October through December leaf clearance on a tighter cycle, leaves left on grass kill turf and leaves in gullies cause water damage. We blow, collect, bag and remove arisings, not redistribute them across the site.
Commercial vs residential differences
Commercial sites typically need RAMS, PPE-visible signage, fixed visit windows that avoid tenant footfall, and reporting against an SLA. Residential landlords need flexibility on access, sensitivity around tenants' own garden use, and clean billing that's easy to recharge. We run both with the same insurance and competence, scaled to the brief.
Communal blocks & managed estates
On managed estates we work directly with the block manager or RTM, with a single reporting line, monthly summary sheets and per-visit photo packs. Multi-site portfolios get one route plan, one invoice and one account manager, instead of nine different contractors emailing for instructions.
One-off clearances & site resets
If a property has been left to grow over, we'll quote a separate clearance to bring it back to baseline before the maintenance schedule kicks in. Strim-down, hedge reset to height, bed clearance, full waste removal, photo report, and then your monthly cost is genuinely monthly.
We landscape across Deeside, Wrexham, the rest of North Wales, Cheshire, Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria, and we'll be honest if a site sits too far outside our route to deliver the schedule you actually need.

FAQ
Honest answers, before you call.
How much does a landscaping contract cost?
+
It depends on site size, frequency and access. As a rough guide a small communal block with a fortnightly cut in season starts around £80–£120 per visit; a larger commercial site can run several thousand a month. We quote properly after a site visit, no per-square-metre online calculators.
How quickly can you start?
+
For a one-off clearance, often within the same week. For a scheduled contract, typically 7–14 days from quote acceptance, we like to walk the site once more, build the route into our crew schedule, and start cleanly rather than rushing.
Do you cut grass through winter?
+
We reduce the frequency, not stop entirely. November through February visits focus on leaf clearance, drainage checks, winter pruning and the occasional cut on mild years. The schedule reflects the season, you won't be paying for fortnightly cuts in January.
Are you insured and licensed?
+
Yes. £5m public liability, employer's liability, waste carrier registration (so we can lawfully remove green waste and clippings), and PAT-tested electrical kit. Documentation provided on request before the first visit.
How long do landscaping contracts last?
+
Most run rolling-monthly with a 30-day notice period, we don't lock people in. Annual contracts attract a small discount for the budgeting certainty they give us. Either way, you can review and flex frequency seasonally.
Do you offer emergency or same-day landscaping?
+
Yes for storm damage, fallen branches, sudden access issues or a site you need presentable for a viewing or inspection tomorrow. Call 01244 529900, we'll get a crew out the same day where the route allows.
Do you cover Wrexham, Chester, Liverpool and beyond?
+
Yes, our route covers all of North Wales, Cheshire, Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire and into Cumbria. We're headquartered at CH5 in Deeside, which puts almost all of those areas inside a one-hour drive.
Will you handle waste removal?
+
Yes, and it's included in every visit unless we agree otherwise in writing. Green waste, clippings, leaves and small site debris are loaded, removed and disposed of through licensed routes, you'll never need to arrange a separate skip for our work.
